Acrylic coatings can be used in organic waterborne, solvent-borne, radiation-curable, or powder formulations. They are water-soluble fast-drying paint made of pigment suspended in acrylic polymer emulsion. Most acrylic paints are water-based but become water-resistant when dry. Acrylic coatings are mainly used in architectural, or decorative, finishes, and to coat industrial goods. Due to their excellent durability and weatherability as coating materials, they are often used in applications such as automotive, architectural, and plastic coatings.

Acrylic coatings are also known for their inertness and excellent color retention when exposed to outdoor conditions. Acrylic is a synthetic resin used to make durable, high-quality coatings or paintings. Furthermore, acrylic coatings offer excellent chemical and mechanical resistance, along with ease of use for a variety of applications.
