Neuroscience is the study of how the human nervous system works. This multidisciplinary field combines physiology, anatomy, molecular biology, developmental biology, cytology, and genetics to learn more about the human brain. There are countless different applications for neuroscience, and the field is growing rapidly.  Developmental neuroscience studies the development of the brain from a cellular level. Molecular neuroscience investigates the role of individual molecules in the nervous system. Neuroengineering uses engineering principles to study neural systems, while neuroscience informatics uses computer programs to analyze data from all areas of neural research. Neuroimaging studies the activity and connectivity of individual molecules in the brain. It is also a branch of medical imaging. Neuroscientists are working to better understand the human nervous system through technological advances.

Systems neuroscience focuses on the neural network's signal-processing mechanisms, using physiological techniques like electrodes. Neurophysiology uses techniques such as light and voltage-sensitive dyes to study brain function. Paleoneurology uses fossilized organisms to understand the brain's origin and evolution. And social neuroscience looks at the relationship between biological systems and behavior. This field combines biological and social concepts to understand human behavior. In addition, systems neuroscience aims to map the flow of data throughout the CNS and uses this information to understand how behavior occurs. In regions such as the United States, the increasing prevalence of neurologists has increased research and developments related to neuroscience. For instance, according to Zippia, in 2020, there were more than 3975 neurologists in the United States.

In addition to studying how the human brain functions, Neuroscience can also be applied to commercial applications. Its discoveries are making a difference in many aspects of our lives, from the design of consumer products to machine-human interaction. Neuromarketing and UX design are two examples of commercial use of neuroscience. By exploring how the human brain works, neuroscience is helping us understand the complex relationship between the mind and body.
