Biometric Vehicle Access; Helps in Easy Tracking and Strengthens the Vehicle’s Safety & Security System

Biometric Vehicle Access Market

A biometric vehicle access system is developed for automatically accessing the vehicle and is preferred by various automakers around the world. The vehicle access system comprises different mechanisms that use biometric identification, such as voice, iris, and fingerprint to unlock the vehicle. The use of the biometric vehicle access system ensures easy tracking and makes it accurate. Biometrics is the measurement and statistical analysis of people's unique physical and behavioral characteristics.

The technology is used for identification and access control or for identifying individuals who are under surveillance. The five most common types of biometric identifiers are fingerprints, facial, voice, iris, and palm or finger vein patterns. The biometric vehicle access system is remarkably convenient as it allows authorized users to access the vehicle without needing anything other than themselves. A fingerprint recognition system is a device that thwarts any unauthorized entry into the vehicle unless the correct fingerprint of the driver is provided.

Unlike codes, one-time passwords, static passwords, or access cards that rely on data that can be forgotten or lost, biometric vehicle access is based on who people are (and not what they have). Biometric solutions have, traditionally, been used to increase security levels by creating a layer of verification. So, for instance, people use their card to identify themselves and then presents their fingerprint to prove that they are who they claim to be. Biometrics is a tool that allows a vehicle to react to an individual.

Whether to allow access to the vehicle or to enhance the driving experience. Biometric Vehicle Access can be implemented through mobile apps or on-car sensors, but the effect is the same: biometric recognition ensures a live, authorized human being is unlocking doors and starting the car, not malware, or an unrecognized bad actor. In short, security concerns are one of the most important reasons why biometric authentication has become the need of the hour. Thus, many automakers are implementing biometric vehicle access.

For the safety and convenience of the customers, some car manufacturers, such as Ford (US), BMW (Germany), Mercedes-Benz (Germany), and Volkswagen (Germany) are planning to incorporate biometric systems into their cars.
