Swimwear; a Type of Clothing Specially Designed For People Engaged In Water-Based Activity
Swimwear is a type of clothing specially designed for people engaged in a water-based activity or water sports such as swimming, water skiing, surfing, water polo, or even leisure activities such as sunbathing. Swimwear is also used to avoid skin rashes caused due to contact with pool chlorinated water. Polyester is the most widely used synthetic fabric, with many benefits including resistance to chlorine and sunlight. It is also a durable fabric that offers stretch, which makes it a good choice for swimwear.
A
swimsuit may be described by a variety of names, some of which are used only in
particular places, including Swimwear, swimming costume, swimming
or bathing suit, bathing costume, swimmers, bathers, swimming togs, cossie (short for
costume), or swimming trunks for men, besides others. Swimsuits are made in a
variety of materials, from spandex to Polyester to blends of polyester and spandex,
and nylon. Polyester and Spandex are two common swimsuit materials, and each
has its own strengths.
One
reason swimwear is tight to the body is that it helps control the shape of
the wearer's body. It effectively helps to make them more hydrodynamic. Higher
quality suits are also made of special materials that repel water multiplying
the suit's ability to reduce drag. They reduce friction and drag in the water,
increasing the efficiency of the swimmer's forward motion. The tight fits allow
for easy movement and help reduce muscle vibration (thus reducing drag) and the
possibility that a high forwards dive will remove a diver's swimwear.
Swimsuits
are great as they're usually very body-flattering and keep everything held
firmly in place. This also implies that styling a swimsuit as a bodysuit will
make people look toned and in shape. Thus, with the increase in water-based
activities or water sports or even leisure activities, the demand for swimwear
is also increasing. For example, in June 2022, Footmark, a provider of school swimwear
and swimming caps in Japan, has begun offering Japan’s first genderless,
two-piece school swimwear with customizable components.
